PT set ready to receive additional containerized cargo
New Mangalore Port is poised to handle the additional containerized cargo. NMPT has geared up to handle the additional cargo by adding more infrastructure like Reach Stacker and paved stack area for stacking containers. 1 No. 104 T capacity high tech mobile crane is positioned and a well paved stackyard measuring 40,000 sq. ft. is getting ready. The second Reach Stacker will be provided shortly. Additional number of 86 Reefer plug points will be provided at the stack yard to meet the requirement of seasonal sea food to be exported from the west coast region. The Port has taken all measures to ensure zero waiting time at anchorage and quick turn round time. The Port is also giving concession of 25% on port related charges. A Trade Meet was organized by the Port at Bangalore on 21-7-2007, where Exporters/ Importers of commodities like coffee, cashew, garments, reefer, plywood, granite, tyres, leather goods, etc. and container main line operators have attended the Meet in large numbers and had a fruitful interaction on the handling of cargo through the Port. Shri P. Tamilvanan, Chairman, & Shri M.A. Bhaskarachar, Dy.Chairman, NMPT while briefing the developmental works taken up by the Port and the additional infrastructure created at the Port for the smooth handling of cargo, have requested the trade to take advantage of these facilities.

All the Importers and Exporters have expressed their willingness to move their cargo through New Mangalore Port so as to utilize its advantageous position like road connectivity, rail connectivity, competitive freight, etc
